First Round of Chemo Update

Greeting from the smokey coast! Time feels like it is going very slowly. It is hard to believe that last Sunday we had a celebration of Bill & Judy's 50th wedding anniversary. I have attached a photo below from that day.

Last Monday Bill went into the hospital for a bone marrow test and to be admitted for treatment for non-Hodgkin lymphoma.. Testing went well and Marlo was a superstar helping Bill and Judy navigate that day. The good news was that the cancer was not found in his blood or marrow. The first of several drugs for his chemotherapy was begun that night.

Chemotherapy continued through Tuesday and Wednesday. The cancer had inflamed his stomach so the hospital was giving him fluids through IV. There were a few rough days as to be expected when taking chemo but the doctors were happy with how his body handled the drugs.

A post chemo x-ray was done Saturday and the tumor has shrunk some already, there was also no blockage of the intestines (all the praise hands!). Due to fluid building in his limbs, a tube was inserted to remove fluids from his stomach. This made Bill a lot more comfortable. The stomach inflammation was also causing hiccups and those have decreased in severity as well.

The Enns family (Bill's siblings) had a mini reunion yesterday and so Bill has had lots of visitors. Due to the risk of infections and lowered immune function visitors will be limited to family at this time. Messages can be left below in the comments and cards can be mailed to Bill and Judy's home. If you need the address please leave a comment below.

Prayer requests
  • Please pray that the tumor continues to shrink and that Bill's organs can regain functioning.
  • Please pray for restful nights and no hiccups.
  • Please pray for the rest of the family as they navigate this.
Thank you all for your care and concern.

Much love,

Ryan & Erin
